As Group Vice President, Discovery and Preclinical, Robert Béland leads the
development and regulatory services, pharmacology, metabolism resource,
and drug safety assessment divisions of MDS Pharma Services with a team of
over 700 employees located in North America, Asia and Europe. He has more
than 20 years of global general management experience, as well as expertise
in operations, business development and scientific affairs.
Before joining MDS Pharma Services in 2003 as Senior Vice President
for Discovery and Preclinical of Early Stage Development, Mr.
Béland served as Vice President, Corporate and Scientific Affairs
for Jamieson Laboratories; Vice President, General Manager, Nutrition
Division for R.P. Scherer and President, North America for Arkopharma LLC.
Mr. Béland attended university in Health Sciences at Collège
Jean-de-Brébeuf and received a bachelor of science in Chemistry from the
Université de Montréal. He has been a member of the Quebec Order
of Chemists since 1982.
