MDS Pharma Services promotes Terry Lenehan, Ph.D., to vice president, clinical operations, Europe

(March 12, 2001; Montreal, Quebec) — MDS Pharma Services is pleased to announce the promotion of Terry J. Lenehan, Ph.D., to the position of vice president, clinical operations, Europe. In his new role, Dr. Lenehan will be responsible for all early clinical research operations in Europe. With facilities in Belfast, Munich and Hamburg, housing 148 beds of more than 750 beds in facilities worldwide, MDS Pharma Services provides services ranging from clinical pharmacology to data management, statistics and PK/PD analysis and access to a large base of normal healthy volunteers and special populations.

Dr. Lenehan possesses more than 22 years of clinical research experience. He joined MDS Pharma Services (then Harris Laboratories) in 1993 as director of clinical research at their facility in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He later served as vice president, research and development, Europe. Prior to joining MDS Pharma Services, Dr. Lenehan served as general manager, clinical operations, UK/ Ireland, for GH Besselaar Associates. Prior experience also includes several years with the Institute of Clinical Pharmacology, Norbrook Laboratories, and Hoffmann-La Roche.

Dr. Lenehan is an executive council member of the Association of Independent Clinical Research Contractors (AICRC), the professional body of CROs in the UK. He is also a visiting lecturer at Queen’s University, the University of Surrey and the University of Ulster.

Dr. Lenehan has authored numerous articles and abstracts published in international journals. He has also presented papers at international scientific and medical conferences over many years. He is a member of the British Institute for Regulatory Affairs, the Institute of Directors (London), the Drug Information Association (DIA), the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, the Association of Pharmacologists in the Pharmaceutical Industry and the British Pharmacological Society.

Dr. Lenehan studied at Trinity College, Dublin where he received a BA (Mod) in natural sciences, followed by an MA in immunology/microbiology and later was conferred with a Ph.D. in clinical immunology/haematology. He continued to work at Trinity as a post-doctoral fellow before beginning his career in clinical pharmacology in the pharmaceutical industry.
